Delete your Memoria data
Last updated 2026-04-26
- You can leave your household, delete your account, or delete the entire household.
- Self-serve from inside the app — OTP-verified, audit-logged.
- 30-day cool-off window for household deletion. Reversible until then.
How to delete from inside the app
- Open Memoria mobile app.
- Settings → Privacy & data.
- Choose: Leave household (you go, household stays), Delete account (your user goes, only possible when you are not the primary anywhere), or Delete this household (full purge — primary only).
- Confirm with your phone or email OTP.
Cool-off & cancellation
Household deletion runs on a 7-day cool-off window by default. A banner appears on Home for the entire household every session; any member can cancel within the window.
What happens after the window
Memoria runs a re-key on the household DEK and re-encrypts vault objects so they are unreadable. Soft-deleted rows in PostgreSQL enter a 30-day trash window where they can be restored, then are hard-deleted. Capture observability data (captures, intake_events, llm_call_logs) is hard-deleted on the 365-day retention sweep. Audit logs and consent records are preserved for compliance and partition-archived to S3 Glacier per regulatory retention.
What we keep, and why
- Audit logs — required for compliance (DPDP, GDPR), kept append-only.
- Consent records — the regulatory record of when and how consent was given and revoked.
- Tax records — invoices retained 8 years per Indian tax law.
Off-app request
If you cannot access your account, email privacy@joinmemoria.one from your registered email. We will verify identity and process within the regulatory window. Read the DPDP-2023 notice for the full process.
